Have you ever walked into someone’s home and seen a stunning piece of artwork you simply had to comment on? Artwork can be a very personal thing, and it helps to make your house a home. It brings your personality into the space and ensures you can make a statement about who you are.
If you’re wondering how you can do this and create some conversation pieces in your own home, here are some ideas.
Are you a good photographer?
If you are you’ve got an excellent way of creating some good wall art for each room in your home. You can get your photos printed up as posters, or upload them online and get them made up as large canvases to adorn a single wall. Canvas art is worth considering as you don’t generally need a frame – the canvas is stretched over a wooden frame so it has the appearance of a thin box.
There are plenty of options here depending on the room and space you want to present them in. Remember too that you can use family portraits, landscape photos and even photos of pets, depending on your likes and desires. Look through your digital photography collection and see what inspires you. Alternatively take some new pictures with a particular room or setting in mind.
What about wall art?
Wall art exists in lots of different forms so you’re bound to find something that appeals to you and your home. For example you can get script art that features a saying or phrase that can be stuck to a wall in your home to make a feature of it. This works particularly well on a chimney breast or above a bed, for example.
Alternatively you can get abstract art that features all kinds of shapes. Traditionally this type of art is a black transfer that is then peeled off and stuck to the wall. Do shop around to see what you can find though – the immense range of items available is quite impressive. Whatever ideas and designs you have in mind for your home, you’re bound to find something appealing.
Don’t forget the garden!
When it comes to conversation pieces of art, you don’t have to stop indoors. You can also think about adding one or two innovative pieces to your garden. They can look quite stunning in the right place.
Garden sculptures are perhaps the most obvious way to change the look and feel of your garden. If you have a large garden, a statue can work well. Alternatively you can look for something smaller that is perfectly sized to fit in a flower bed. You don’t have to buy traditional garden ornaments like gnomes and other similar items. Abstract designs such as globes and more fluid shapes made from marble and other substances work just as well and draw the eye to a particular spot.
So you see, you have lots of opportunities to create a conversation piece or two in your home today.
